These two images were just two that I happened to have saved on my computer. Nothing too special about them, just had a fun feel when I overlayed the one over the other and added the “fine arts template”. The name is just to signify that it’s a juxtaposition of the two images. Like I said, nothing too special or significant.

These images were all taken Halloween night, which was the same night I did my large print image for Custom Images. I never intended to put them together like this, but ran out of time, and ideas, to do a more intensive photolusion, or whatever it’s being called. The editing was a lot of level and saturation changes to get more balanced look to everything. Also added shadows and reflection to try to blend it a bit more. But, my photoshop was throwing too big of a fit to force lighting to match more.

Sneak Attack is a fun little take on an anime character from a show called Naruto Shippuden named Gaara. He’s an odd character with a huge barrel thing full of sand that he carries around with him, the light brown part of the image. While I was brainstorming perspective photos, I took this one. It turned out to be humorous to me so I figured I’d make it my one for the week. I also messed with levels, saturations and curves to give it a more vintage look.

This is the images after blended. I upped the stats and levels a bit to make it crisper, especially with it being hard to catch colors on such a chilly day. Since I took the images by hand, I had to crop a little more than I normally would have to, but I’m pretty comfortable with the outcome of this image.

EDIT: I wanted to also explain why I wanted this to be my panoramic. The main purpose was the feeling of wholeness it portrayed. You see the older statue in front of the construction area and newly finished addition. It helps show the past, present and future that is envisioned on this campus.

And this is me just playing around with the concept of a photomerging into a fish eyed lens shot. The thing that it takes it more vertical photos and the perspectives in the photos have to skew more than I could with the Spori, but I think I’ll work on it a bit more and see what I can do.

These photos were taken outside the new addition to the Manwaring Center. I never actually stop to look at this statue, and thought it’d be fun to use these images for the photo. I didn’t touch the levels of any of these since I want to show specifically what the originals looked like.

Each of these photos were just aspects of my work while I was conceptualizing my print project, which is far from done still, but will hopefully be done by this evening so it can print tomorrow. The light was to give a rough image to work with light beams from. The MacBook is what I’ve lived on the entire week watching tutorials and examples from other designers. Headphones help me think. Hot Cocoa is my Mormon coffee. Alan and Nelson are two of the bboys I hang out with while I visit Boise. The rosary is just a random item that I carry around with me for no deeply metaphysical reason, just helps relieve stress. The editing on the individual pieces were simplistic. Occasional level and saturation touch ups, but nothing beyond that.

This is my “week of photos” template and finished product. I really don’t like taking photos everyday. I don’t mind working on them, but I tend not to remember, so I had to sit with my camera out when I was doing stuff. But, the template is pretty straight forward. The .psd version has days grouped with the Polaroid and tape separated. They are also labeled by days to help a little more. I ended up simply using an unlinked layer mask since I am playing around with a few ideas of how to use layer masks in intriguing ways.

These two photos, like the three to follow, were taken on the 17th of October where taken when a few friends went to TGI Fridays. These two images have very slight modifications. These changes are a limited amount of levels, brightness, contrast and saturation.

These three are meant more for playing around with new actions that I found on the internet. They are really fun to mess with and I thought the design of them helps bypass some of the flaws that are present in these images initially. This, like the first two images, also have slight shifts to levels, brightness, contrast and saturation, but it’s mostly a vintage action I found from Omar the Radwan online.

This is the luminosity tutorial that can be found on the blackboard. I never mess with channels much, so this was entertaining. I also always love the opportunity to mess with transparency locks since the possible outcomes are always interesting. The only thing I don’t like about the tutorial is that it works with the randomize button in the gradient editor which makes it harder to get to colors that one would actually like.

This is one of the many shots that I have taken for “The Assassination of Albert Einstein” photo shoot for the Advanced Visual Media project that is due tomorrow. I didn’t want a drastic change to the color, still wanted him to match of course. So, I replaced the colors to a green instead of the original tan. And, like always, this was taken without a tripod with slight changes to levels, contrast, brightness and saturation.

The first photo, spectrum, was taken right outside TGI Friday this past Saturday night. I was just carrying around a camera and capturing random things. The night shots I’m posting are more “generic” than creative light trails and smoke and such because I want to work on actual candid night captures. I can stage a light or smoke photo, but need to get better at capturing images at night. I messed with saturation slightly, but that was the extent of the editing.

Friday Night Light was also taken on Saturday, but inside TGI Friday. It was just becoming dusk and the light was coming through the window in weird variations, so I thought I’d try to capture some stuff. This one had a fun feel to it, though nothing really special.

The movie times are two images taken at different angles then pieced together. It wasn’t originally going to be that way. Just got bored while my friends were trying to figure out what movie to watch. I messed with the the colors a bit to get them to match a little better, but, other than that, it’s exactly how it was shot on a tilt.

Anno Lucis is Latin for Year of the Light. Mason calendars being 4000 BCE. The image had slight HDR work, then to layers of blended brush work on the side and a slimmer black feathered border to give slight regularity in the edges.

The brick wall shot is just on the walk back to my apartment. I did a light adjustment and layer mask to create the border.

The first five shots are just straight forward shots. Nothing too specific down with them. I was mostly trying to get used to the camera that I was using. There is no editing done to any of them post capture. They, like most of my images, are studies on lines. The cellar door image is just because there is a movie called Donnie Darko that talks about the prettiest word being cellar door. Because of this, I enjoy looking at cellar doors and pondering about the concept of beauty in all aspects.

The portrait shot was simply a candid shot of the tour guide. He’s an awesome guy and thought it’d be fun to avoid staged photos of people. The shallow depth of field played really well with this one and I enjoyed how it turned out. I would normally do something editing to clean up the image and give it more pop, but I’m trying to keep these non-editing assignments unedited.

The bars were to have another shallow depth of field. I think it turned out really well. If I were to do it again, I wouldn’t have zoomed in so much, but it’s okay. I’d also edit the colors slightly on this one, it’s a bit too much light.

The Lost Love image is probably my favorite conceptually. We had a lot of fun talking through what the image is trying to portray and I believe it was captured very well. I also went through and edited this one in Photoshop and Dynamic Photo to make it an HDR image only using the one initial photo. Those outcomes follow these remarks.

This is also a self-portrait I took while bored outside the Mason Temple. I also edited this one into HDR and thought it’d be fun to post. It’s currently my Facebook photo (where all self-portraits of bored youth go). The text is because I was ordained a reverend through a nondenominational and like the title Reverend Alex P. Leith, at least for now. Then, I just threw a medium black border around it to case it in some.
